Of course, all factories have variations and sometimes they just don't quite get it spot on unfortunately. It's taken a little while to get to that point, some of the slightly older guitars are not up to the standard of the ones being made today, but right now the Chinese factory is putting out very well made instruments in my opinion. I'm of the opinion that current MIC Epiphones are at least of equal quality to the older Korean models, and usually better. Construction, finish, sound, playability, the lot. I have a standard MIC Casino, made in 2009. Can't remember the name.) No appreciation in value, heh, heh. I once sold a black Strat and a Guild Starfire in the same year that I bought them (1967 at a big music store on Market Street in SF. on the Lennon Inspired - not that I have any kind of problem with that, being a Lennon fan from day one. The designation Historic Series, might be a marketing ploy with Yoko, etc. I know that sounds weird, but it stands out so incredibly fine compared to the other guitars I own. It's so well made that it reminds me of a fine violin. My '09 AS Tele is my most expensive guitar, but my true baby. That, and supposedly following old construction methods (?), and the superior materials. What caught my attention was the different angle of the headstock on the Elitist vs the other two. I'm not sure I care too much about resale value, but that usually follows quality anyway. My main aim is to buy the best guitar for the money. Please let me know what else you find out.
